Phase II Clinical TrialViews: 509

Well as I posted in my last blog, my breast cancer has come back they found a growth in my right lung. This is my 3rd time with the breast cancer and my 4th battle total. My Doctors feel the conventional treatments are not working. So they have put me in a Phase II Clinical trial through the Mayo Clinic. There will only be 45 women doing this study. It is called VEGF trap. It is a substance that blocks the action of vascular endothelial growth factor, and prevents the growth of new blood vessels into a tumor. It is used in patient that have metastatic breast cancer. They have something out there that has been used for colon cancers and I believe some other kinds. But this one is geared toward breast cancer that is hard to get rid of.. (That would be me).

At this point in my battle to get rid of this I am game to try anything. The side effects are pretty much the same as chemo but not as harsh on the body and I get to keep my hair…. I will be closely watched and will have numerous test to make sure this is working and not causing any harm. I will be posting up date on my progress.

Cheryl – good luck in your clinical trial. The VEGF trap sounds interesting. I have just started reading about it. You are in good hands at the Mayo Clinic.

Please keep us updated about your progress in the treatment.

I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
